Ayurveda
Ayurveda, also known as the ‘science of life’, is a five-thousand-year-old system of knowledge that describes the keys to living a long and healthy life. With it’s roots in the ancient Vedic traditions of India, Ayurveda encompasses a wide array of practices that include understanding your Dosha (mind-body constitution), establishing a healthy daily routine, maintaining appropriate nutrition and exercise, cultivating emotional integration and healing through the five senses. Ayurveda is not affiliated with any religious tradition; in fact, in recent years it has witnessed a powerful resurgence among Western doctors and medical professionals. Ayurveda is now recognized as one of the world’s most powerful tools for preventing illness and prolonging life.
Trista draws from the wisdom of Ayurveda to help you discover and integrate daily practices that restore your body to health and invigorate your life.
Many of us don’t begin thinking about our health until something goes wrong. But Ayurveda reminds us that health is more than just the absence of symptoms or disease — it is the capacity to maintain balance and integration between our mind, body, spirit, and environment. When that balance is compromised, we get sick. Many of the most prevalent and severe illnesses in modern society — heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, arthritis, and more — are preventable through making conscious lifestyle choices.
The Doshas
Unlike most diet and health programs, Ayurveda doesn’t prescribe a one-size-fits-all treatment routine for everyone. In Ayurveda, five basic elements (space, air, fire, water, and earth) are believed to give rise to the three principle Doshas (Vata, Pitta, & Kapha) that constitute all of life. Each one of us presents a unique expression of these elemental energies. Although all three Doshas are present in everyone, usually one or two predominate.
Through your lifestyle coaching sessions with Trista, you will learn about your own Dosha, how to identify when you are out of balance, and how to restore the dynamic interplay of the elements in your body-mind when needed. You will learn what foods, scents, sounds and experiences complement your Dosha and which of these move you further away from balance. In addition, Trista will teach you optimal daily routines appropriate for your unique dispositions.
A Wholistic Approach
Do you often feel lethargic, moody, cloudy, or anxious without an identifiable cause? When our lifestyle does not fit our unique physical and emotional needs, we are unable to express our full potential. Ayurveda teaches that health includes integration on every level, including our emotional wellbeing. Trista will help you identify emotional patterns that hinder your ability to move forward toward a more happy, healthy, and balanced life. You will learn techniques for emotional clearing as well as how to consciously communicate and meet your needs.
When we can communicate our needs clearly and in a way that doesn’t imply victimization, we are more likely to have our needs met.
In addition to emotional integration and conscious communication, Trista also draws from the principles of yoga and meditation to help you create a daily practice that provides a solid platform from which we move toward a return to wholeness. As your coaching progresses, you will gain a new perspective and unfold your highest potential through incorporating lifestyle practices that will offer more energy, clarity, happiness, and an overall wellness of being in your everyday life.
